Another State Gets Operation Inasmuch
Indiana is the latest state to get Operation Inasmuch. Culbertson
Baptist Church in New Albany, IN conducted their first OIAM May
19 with 55% of their average attendance involved, ages 3 to 88.
Indiana is the tenth state to see OIAM used as a model for community ministry there. Expect other congregations in Indiana to join the OIAM train as it moves north throughout the state. Steve Blanchard of the Indiana Baptist Convention attended a recent workshop on OIAM and commented that Indiana Baptist churches could make good use of it.
New Partnerships Being Formed
Operation Inasmuch, Inc. has been invited to join two networks of compassion ministry. At the Externally Focused Church Conference, the invitation was issued to OIAM, Inc. to unite with other compassion, local community ministries across the nation in the Externally Focused Network. David Crocker conducted two workshops on Operation Inasmuch at the Conference in Longmont, CO, May 21-22. The new network will serve as a clearing house for all congregations across the country who are committed to community ministry. It will be launched in August and Hands and Feet will carry a reminder for your reference.
Appalachian Regional Ministries (ARM) has also invited OIAM, Inc. to partner with them in ministering to the needs of people living in Appalachia. ARM facilitates church teams making ministry forays into one of the 10 states of Appalachia. Dozens of churches work through ARM to ministry to the varied and many needs in the region. For more information about ARM go to www.arministry.org. To see other like-minded ministries with whom OIAM, Inc. is collaborating click here.
